What is a protest song?
"A protest song is a song that is associated with a movement for social change (and hence part of the broader category of topical songs). It may be folk, classical, or commercial in genre."

The history of protest songs
In the 19th century topical subjects for protest in song included abolition, slavery, poverty, and the Civil War amongst other subjects.

What is the purpose of a protest song?
Protest songs are usually written to be part of a movement for cultural or political change. They aim to draw people together and inspire them to take action or reflect.

    This is a good start, but you need far more information than this. You should be looking into the evolution of protest songs up to the present day, as well as the kind of issues raised in such songs. Please complete. Miss Cook :)

WEEK 9/10 - Final 'Statement of Intent'

Information on your target audience and how you are attracting them: "Where is the Love?" by The Black Eyed Peas seems most relevant to the 16-25 target audience as I feel this age group range will be socially aware and conscious of the current problems mentioned such as, terrorism, war, hypocrisy, racism, gang crime, pollution and intolerance/violence against the LGBTQ+. As well as this they can also join and start movements to make a change to fix these issues.  At the end of the music video lots of different individuals of all ages and ethnic backgrounds are seen looking up into the sky.
